Monday! Oh, I love a Monday. (Not much has changed.)

1. To keep myself accountable for my only New Year's resolution, I've been keeping a list of the books I read as I finish them, starring the ones I liked. Up until recently, it's mainly served to remind me how much of a book rut I've been in—out of the twelve books I've finished since January, I've only liked two!

I have a feeling that's going to change. After I had my first...

Forgive the rambling brain dump but I have been without much free time lately--see culprit above.

1. Seasonal uniforms. Do you have one?

My winter uniform is really serving me this year. Our house is over 100 years old, and the windows are original, so it's not an exaggeration to say that you can feel an actual breeze come through our windows at times, and NJ winters don't mess around. (It was zero degrees when we were eating...

I recently saw something that said something along the lines of, consumerism wants us to feel bad about ourselves--that's how it makes money! Let's not all put a bunch of pressure on ourselves to start a new year with a "new me" because many times, the "old me" is just fine, thank...

I thought I'd borrow from one of my favorite bloggers and do a quick post on what I've been thinking/reading/playing.

How many months can one go without sleeping before dying? Does anyone hire a night nurse for a 7 month old? Maybe I'm on my hill complaining about sleep deprivation a little too much lately (frequently mentioning to Nick that I'm going to go out back and dig my grave etc etc), but I seem to have hit tha...

I don't have a lot of words today because I have a baby who isn't sleeping a lot (is too happy to sleep a thing?), a husband who is working a lot, and two toddlers who have seemingly boundless energy. See above photo for my energy level at all times. SOS.

Here are some links I've enjoyed from around the web lately:

The dramatic brain changes of motherhoodI wish I had known all of this before having my first baby!

I have lofty goals of how much I will be able to read this summer, but in reality this list will likely take me the rest of the year...or longer. But here's my current to-read list, if you're looking for reading inspiration!

Just finished this--I thought the writing and insights were good but the plot didn't really do much.

Also just finished. The plot was interesting but the writing was just so-so.

Just started this last night...

WATCHING: We just finished the second season of Turn and are eagerly awaiting Netflix to add Season 3. I typically find historical shows a little dry, but I'm so glad we gave this one a shot because it's fascinating and based on real events. It's also given me a new appreciation of how much of the American Revolution took place right in our backyard!

We just started Peaky Blinders and although the first episode didn't hook us,...

I am so excited to have found a new (to us) children's author whose work I love!

I am a little picky about kids' books. I feel like so much of what's out there now is too dramatic, complicated, and commercial. The characters are too sassy or sarcastic. The illustrations are too busy and there are too many words on the page. Sometimes I feel like the author isn't writing for a child at all.

Books I like are simple. There is...

Or, probably more appropriately titled, Until-I-Finish-All-of-These-Books Reading List. So, see you in two years :) Know what's even more fun to me than making a reading list? Organizing it! Here it goes.

PASSABLE YOUNG ADULT FICTION FOR ADULTS: (I'm hoping for a Twilight or To Kill a Mockingbird in...

How was your Halloween? Here are Little Lou Peep and her sheep, in all their glory:

I'm a pretty big Halloween grinch, and am always happy when the holiday is over. This was probably our worst Halloween yet in terms of putting forth the effort to get into the Halloween spirit (if that's even a thing); we are "bowl people" since both of us want to go door-to-door with the girls, and I'm pretty sure our supply was depleted within...
