One thing I don't miss about the school year is all the germs.

We had our healthiest year yet last year, and I largely attribute it to the vitamin protocol we were following. We've scaled it down over the summer but will start ramping back up over the next couple weeks and I thought I'd share what we'll be doing.

I had a mystery toothache last week which escalated to the point of not being able to chew my dinner.

Rather than the hassle of making a dentist appointment (when will scheduling and attending appointments NOT be an impossible task?) and possibly being placed on some kind of broad spectrum antibiotic, I went through my inventory of home remedies and concocted a little mouth rinse with warm water, sea salt, and 10 drops of ...

Three and a half years into this mom thing and I still feel like a newbie in so many areas. One area I'm slowly gaining confidence is dealing with various health issues, and doing so as naturally as possible.

I know that antibiotics are sometimes completely necessary and even life-saving. But I also think our culture often wants a quick fix for everything, and sometimes these drugs end up either doing A) nothing (as they are on...

I hope I'm a little wiser next winter and can handle the cold and flu season with a little more grace. We have had a tough winter, health-wise, and I have the hardest time focusing on anything else with a sick child (or husband) in the house.

I typed a letter to myself to read next February, but then I deleted it because although it's all probably sound advice (don't go in public, don't make plans, expect constant illness and s...

Using things that you probably already have in your kitchen!

I am quite the opposite of a DIY girl. If I can buy it, I will. I am ever grateful that I have a handy husband or we would be in hot water.

Winter + being perpetually overdue for a haircut + postpartum hair loss (just another thing no one tells you about before having a baby) has made for an unfortunate hair situation over here lately, and after doing some quick resear...

Hello! How is your week going? Mine has been like this:

The plague has been going around Eloise’s school and it was finally our turn to catch it. It has been a tough week or so. Once you don’t have a newborn anymore :( you underestimate how torturous sleep deprivation feels. If you are currently sleep deprived for one reason or another, I feel your pain!

Thankfully, Amelia, Nick and I were spared this time around, Nick has been...

September 3, 2016

Hello! I solo-mommed it for a few days this week for the first time since having Amelia and am happy to report it wasn’t nearly as terrifying as I had anticipated. The witching hour/bedtime routine felt about three times as long as it usually does, but otherwise we have all emerged unscathed. Nick actually told me that I should try and miss him a little bit because I MAY have hinted that there is less mess to clean up and I sl...

  1. Are you watching any good shows right now? We haven’t had a show that we’ve both looked forward to watching in awhile (which I don’t understand because who doesn’t love Flipping Out? I am Jeff Lewis and Nick is Gage, btw.) but we just found out we have free HBO for the next few months and have both gotten hooked on The Night Of. I didn’t listen to Serial but Nick says they are similar.

  2. Do you always go out to eat o...

Essential oils! One of my favorite topics. I’ve gotten some questions lately about how our family uses oils, and thought I’d share here.

First thing to note: Not all essential oils are created equal (some are diluted, or contain fillers or chemicals), so do your research! Because we use many of these oils topically and/or internally, I did lots of research and am only comfortable using Young Living oils for our family. We use t...

I normally drink three things: coffee, water, and wine. However, I've stumbled over some new-to-me beverages in the past week or so and thought I'd share here.

HFCS-free ginger ale

I try to always keep some ginger ale in the house for sickies, and with Eloise down for the count earlier this week, I was scouting out the beverage aisle at the grocery store when I came across a ginger ale without high fructose corn syrup, halleluja...
